Top 2022 Bridal Trends

When it comes to the dream dress for your big day, you may think bridal trends are irrelevant. And that’s true in the sense that, the most important factor is that your wedding dress fits your style, personality and body. Nevertheless, we do observe micro-trends in the bridal fashion world, that permeate magazines you might read, social media accounts you might follow, event planners you might employ and put simply, availability of dress styles in store. Because like many bridal designers, we at Galvan offer seasonal designs that capture the mood of the season, as well as signature styles that embody the Galvan design ethos, style DNA and core aesthetics.

For Spring-Summer 2022, Galvan dreamt a White Collection that is feminine yet empowering. Contrasting richer textures with its signature clean cuts, it features luxurious buttery silks, lightweight jacquards, a modern take on velvet devoré, moonlit paillettes suspended on nude tulle, dreamlike — all in pristine, pure white. With a nod to Latin American spirit, in particular its rich tapestry of culture, textiles and folklore, it evokes romance and mystery, imbued with a passionate, sensual feel.

Especially suited to intimate micro-weddings, this collection is considered and effortless, putting the bride's emotions, strength and personality first. These are pieces for brides who forge their own path and write their own stories, pieces that are ready to hold cherished memories in their very fabric.

Rich fabrics, clean silhouettes

A key theme that is emerging for the next wedding dress season is that brides are looking for styles that feel special yet timeless, pared-down yet unique and most importantly, full of personality. Perhaps it is because of micro-weddings but clean cuts, cocktail lengths, modest cuts, long sleeves and minimalist designs are collection heroes. On the other hand, these clean silhouettes are balanced with thoughtful, intricate & meaningful details — from plumetis tulle to jacquards, velvet devoré to heavy, buttery silks, rich and luxe fabrics that cocoon and comfort, embellish and enhance a bride’s inner beauty. At Galvan, a wrap dress with bell sleeves and a flowing sash belt is confident and effortless, while a classic bias-cut slip dress is elevated by its pearlescent floral motif.

Party dresses

Conversely, brides are betting heavily on the after-party. Or perhaps they are looking ahead at a giant party to follow their civil nuptials, in order to catch up with friends and family, like it is 2019. Sequin minis, head-to-toe sparkle, sheer panels and open backs are much-loved cocktail numbers and suited to all-night fiestas and moonlit first dances. Our Rio dress in paillettes embroidered on tulle more than fits the bill. Crafted from body-skimming micro-paillettes, it sculpts the body for a sleek silhouette. Graphic triangular panels in sheer nude tulle highlight a deep V decolleté and low back, forming barely-there straps. The ankle-grazing length, generously slit at the back, allows for sensuous movement. A unforgettable dress for dazzling brides to dance the night away.

Not just dresses

It is not just wedding dresses that 2022 brides are lusting after. The supporting act is made up of satin blazers, kimono-style cover ups, impeccably tailored jumpsuits and smart suiting, perfect for the civil ceremony, the rehearsal dinner, the engagement party, the morning after brunch, and beyond. Versatility is more desirable than ever, and long gone are the days when bridal separates gathered dust in the closet for years afterwards.

Galvan’s haute boho jacket, embellished with joyful fringing and tactile patterns, encapsulates escapism and storied travels. Exotic blooms suggest a winter wedding on the islands, but the rich, luxe fabrics could equally suit a snowy ceremony. Conversely, a daring all-over sequin dress with barely there straps and a sheer, geometric jumpsuit bring youthful energy to a dazzling bridal after-party. Luxe separates and tailored suiting make 2022 brides as modern and chic as can be.
